History of Adopt-A-Cop Nevada

The Adopt-A-Cop ministry was initiated by Chaplain Sgt. Ken Rochell (7/26/1961 - 3/22/2023 Rest in Peace My Friend) the Michigan State Police department in 1998.  Ken began this ministry to serve as a bridge between local churches and their local law enforcement agencies.

Sr. Chaplain Michael D. Thrower, Founder/CEO of Community Connect, Inc., started Nevada’s first Adopt-A-Cop chapter in 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada for the same reason that Ken Rochell did back in 1998 (to Bridge the gap of communication between law enforcement and the community).

The Adopt-A-Cop Nevada ministry is growing rapidly. This is an international ministry where over 120 chapters in 36 states are represented and Nevada is one of them.

Since April of 2016 through May 2019, the Adopt-A-Cop Prayer Ministry has grown from 24 Chapters in 21 States - 70 Chapters in 36 States, including 4 International areas. God is truly bringing our law enforcement and church communities together.

Our Leadership and Prayers are Our Greatest Gifts

Founded in 2016, Adopt-A-Cop Nevada set out to discover the best practices in community engagement and supporting platforms to start a on a rounded mental wellness program, to support multiple law enforcement agencies throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

The projects goal has not changed and with our dynamic advisory board, we are looking to take this prayer protection ministry to the next level.  We honor the blessing to have this ministry by researching and implementing new idea and strategies to reach our Officers, Firefighters, Prayer Partners and Health Care workers. Our passion for making prayer, first responders and community unification drives us to support the diversity within our community.

Our experience and connections in the Las Vegas Valley, allows us to open doors that may have been closed and inspire action, when red tape prevents progress.

When a group of people unite around a shared passion and pursuit for making prayer, community unification, and wellness its focus; success is sure to happen.
